The European Union is honored to extend an invitation to you for an esteemed panel discussion on the "Transatlantic Initiative on Sustainable Trade (TIST)".

This initiative represents a landmark collaboration between the EU and the US to address salient issues in the green transatlantic marketplace, including regulatory standards and green procurement.

• Introduction by Mr. Peter Young, Deputy Head of Trade at the EU’s Mission in Washington, DC, on the objectives and vision behind TIST.

• Remarks from a distinguished industry representative on practical experiences and expectations from the initiative.

7:30-9:00 – Networking Reception

A networking reception with commercial representatives from the Embassies of the EU, Spain, Germany, France, Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland, Belgium, Latvia, Portugal, Estonia, and Lithuania.

Speaker Information 

Al Guarnieri (Moderator) - Parker Poe

Al Guarnieri has been engaged in the international business community in North Carolina for almost 30 years. As an attorney with Parker Poe law firm, he has advised clients on a range of cross-border transactions including acquisitions, in bound investments, and overseas joint ventures. He is particularly active representing foreign-owned companies with their U.S. business expansion planning and execution.

Mr. Peter Young, Deputy Head of Trade at the EU’s Mission

Peter Young has a long and varied experience in EU trade policy. He is presently the Deputy Head of the Trade and Agriculture Section at the European Union Delegation to the United States in Washington DC. He took up this post in August 2020 and has the Diplomatic title of Minister Counsellor.

Dr. Mike Mazzola - EPIC/UNC Charlotte

Dr. Michael Mazzola is the Director of the Energy Production and Infrastructure Center (EPIC) and the Duke Energy Distinguished Chair in Power Engineering Systems at UNC Charlotte. In addition, he served two years as the chief technology officer of SemiSouth Laboratories, a company he co-founded. Dr. Mazzola holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Old Dominion University.

Agustin Marin Vilallonga is the Chief Executive Officer for SolarYield EB. SolarYield EB is focused on increasing the financial returns of utility-scale solar energy plants through the cleaning of modules using cutting-edge technology and processes for each type of plant.
