Three Proposed Redistricting Maps for Charlotte
The Redistricting Ad Hoc Committee, on 9/22/2021 voted on the 3 of the 4 proposed maps to go before the public for feedback and comments.
The Current Map
NOTE: Voting Precincts (Ptc) can range from 1,800 to 19,000 people. Because the city has decided not split precincts, between districts, this unbalance can create difficulties for redistricting.

- Ptc 205 moves to D5, Ptc 77 moves to D6 and Ptc 22 to D1.

This map keeps the districts politically balanced so D6 and D7 remain Republican leaning.
15 Precincts moved in this map option (see red circles)
-D1 gained Ptc: 26,42, and 82 were moved in from D4.
-D2 lost Ptc: 23,24, and 81 into D2 and Ptc 54 from D1

This map is very similar to Map B keeping D6 and D7 as Republican leaning districts.

Winston’s Maps
Councilman Winston created three maps of his own. These maps were not approved by the committee, nor were they presented for the public hearing.
Map D: Created for “D7 to touch D3 and ensures that every district should have a light rail station within the district.” - Winston
Map F: “The Pizza Pie. Could we do it in a way that brought some equity in distributing the effective crescent and wedge between all districts?” - Winston
Map H: “In this map D7 now neighbors D3,5,6 & every district at least abuts a current or future light rail station” - Winston
