NC Rents Slightly Higher in 2020
Overall North Carolina rents are up by 9.0% year over year, opposed to the national average which decreased by 1.3%.
Asheville’s media rent of $1,377 (2br) is the highest of all North Carolina's major cities. Charlotte rents fell this year by 1.7% to $1,200 for a 2 bedroom.
Cary and Durham rents also decreases from last year.
Comparatively, the lager cities in North Carolina are considered to have more affordable rents then other major cities. Unsurprisingly, cities like Seattle, San Francisco and New York have seen a significant drops in median rents. While, Greensboro’s rent growth is one of the highest in the nation.
